I find that when I meditate I need a very earthy scent in my incense and oils. I use an oil called Forest Rain for my meditations and burn Sandalwood or Cinnamon for my prayers. What are some things you all use that might stifle our druid juices.

I use many different kinds, but right now i am using Sage. It was my very first try at growing my own plants and herbs. It works so well that this year i will be growing some other plants.

Thanks fro commenting. I find that Sage is too strong a scent to use in my meditations. I do use it a lot for consecrating my space, tools, and in many rituals. That's awesome that you grow it. I can't wait til lI can own my own home so I can have an herb garden. For now I have to be happy with purchasing it the hard way.

Greetings!

IF you like earthy scents and that grounded energy for meditation, but sage is to powerful for your purposes, you might try a bit of vetivert, or maybe atlas cedarwood or even rosewood...Vetivert has a  fresh, yet smokey, earthy scent, whilst cedarwood is well, like cedar!  Rosewood is not ROSE - but a woody, spicey scent.

You might like one of these........also, to grow your own, you just need a little pot. If sage is too big for your space, a pot of Rosemary (which smells glorious, even if you juust rub  it between your palms!) is easy  to get, easy to grow, smells incredible, and has the added benefit of being grown by you with intent! Sage is beautiful, and when mixed with rosemary and rose oil, it becomes nearly hypnotic.
It always helps to have grown the plants yourself, because your love and energy is passed on through the plant, making it much more potant.  My most recent experimenation with incence during a spell was about a week ago.
I mixed lavender and mandrake oils, I soaked rose petals in that, then burned the lot with some ginger... It was a very strong smell, but it served it's purpose... The spell worked wonders.

My favorite incense for burning would have to be Amber.  Just seems to be the most hypnotic and calming scent for me.

The herbs I use for good meditation is Cinnamon, Sandalwood, and Patchouli!  I use the cinnamon and the Sandalwood both at the same time.  Smells great!  But patchouli smells real earthy to me.

Ok, so this is the first topic I have posted in. It happens to be one of my favorites. I love mixing up scents for new uses as well as new people.

I use several different herbs and resins, both alone and blended, depending on what type of meditation/working I am doing. If it leans more towards scrying I like using something with a bit of clove, sage, and wormwood, among a few other ingredients.  I think over the years I've developed an addiction to Dragon's Blood, so many, not all, of my recipes include it.

Maybe after the move I'll return here to post some of my personal recipes.

Er...I'm not a Druid, I'm actually a Celtic Recon.
But my favorite of favorite scents is Dragon's Blood. The most amazing smell in the world to me...

I'm a little late to the game here, but my favourite incense is one that a dear friend and I made a couple of months ago. I wanted something to help me with concentration because I'm in school full-time, so we mixed up vervain, lavender, rue, white sage, sweetgrass, yarrow, and used dragon's blood as the resin. It is the most wonderful-smelling incense I've ever made, and it works wonders for my focus and clarity of mind.

This post is quite old, but I thought to add my two cents as well.

Although I usually use this in a soy candle, I find that I really enjoy the scents of Peppermint, Eucalyptus, and Lavender all mixed together. It is the perfect earthy smell to me.
